Barbie’s well-endowed chest, uber slender waist, and long, lean legs are a far contrast from girls in real life. Her impossible proportion is probably the main reason why “Normal Barbie” was created. As groundbreaking as that toy was, another toy is set to break another norm and make owners of Normal Barbie really happy. Here comes “Normal Ken.”

Nickolay Lamm, the creator of “Normal” Barbie dolls, stunned the world almost three years ago. He produced a doll that showed how a 19-year-old girl looks like in reality. Her body type is something most girls would surely find normal compared to the ones we are used to seeing.

Through another crowdfunding campaign, Lamm wants to introduce “Normal Barbie’s counterpart, “Normal” Ken. Just like the first girl doll, “Normal” Ken is everything a normal 19-year-old boy looks like.

On the page of the crowdfunding site, his description wrote:

“He may not have a six-pack, but he has a fantastic sense of humor. He may not have the biggest biceps, but he has a big heart. He may not look like a runway model, but he values himself for who he truly is, and always makes sure to pay the same respect to others!”

The creator of the normal dolls was interviewed on an entertainment channel and he said, “I feel like a lot of toys are all about fantasy, like we as adults, we love that as well.”

While he understands how adult loves fantasies, he leaned towards on appreciating the beauty of reality. “Reality is cool; after all, it’s all we have. Why not we appreciate it more? Even though it’s not perfect, it’s still beautiful,” he added.

Only a few months prior to Lamm’s announcement, Mattel, the makers of the classic Barbie doll, announced that their doll will have a makeover. Three different body types will now be available: curvy, petite, and tall. The original version will still be available in stores.

Children around the world can now appreciate the different body types of boys and girls and accept what beauty is in real life.
