When I was 7 years old, I wanted to be an ice skater. It was the first time that I had seen the Winter Olympics, and I couldn’t contain my excitement! All of these graceful dancers gliding across my television screen had me hooked! They could jump and twist and sail about on the ice as if they were flying through the clouds, unafraid of falling or hitting each other. Their costumes were gorgeous and they just looked so happy! The day my mother brought me to the ice rink a few cities over was supposed to be the happiest day of my life…until I actually stepped out onto the ice and realized that it was the most terrifying thing that I had ever tried to do!
My mom still tells that story at dinner parties, but because of that experience I can totally relate to this monk’s reactions!
Things always seem better from far away! This guy probably had really great dreams about what it would be like to become a monk…but once he got into, he realized how much he hated it! I feel you, monk, I really do!
Have you ever tried to do something that you were really excited about and then discovered that it was not what you were expecting? It’s one of the most disappointing things about life! Like and share this post with your friends!
