Just Another Typical Invitation To A Classmate’s Birthday Party? Not For THIS Boy And His Mother!

Aside from everyday classes in school, children attend birthday parties to practice their social skills. These occasions give parents the opportunity to meet other parents and bond with them.

Tricia Klein, a mother of a 7-year-old boy, would have been excited to bring her son to parties. However, Timothy gets overexcited and lashes out in the presence of too many people. Klein didn’t want to cause any more trouble, so she painfully chose not to attend other parties. Surprisingly, someone gave Timothy an invitation that made the mother tearful and thankful.

Klein’s son, Timothy, has suffered from autism since he was a little boy. He quickly gets stimulated and can’t readily control his emotions. It’s one of the reasons why he hasn’t gone to birthday parties.

Although the decision was difficult for Klein as the boy’s mother, she didn’t want to cause any commotion to anyone’s party.

Much to their surprise, Carter, one of Timothy’s classmates, gave an invitation letter. Klein was so touched by the heartfelt letter that she broke down in tears. Carter’s mom, Ainsley Peikos, wrote the letter.

A portion of the letter said, “Carter sat beside Timothy at school and he always talks about him. I really hope he can come.”

She also added, “…Maybe Timothy can come earlier in the day if it would be too much with the whole class. Let me know so we can make it work.”

That last part where Peikos mentioned “Let me know so we can make it work” struck Klein the most. It wasn’t simply an invitation but an encouragement to bring Timothy and let him enjoy what the boy has been missing.

Happy and overwhelmed, Klein replied in an interview, “I was blown away and very, very touched. … I applaud Carter and his family for their acceptance of differences, and for including my son. We are all people, and they are all children when it comes down to it.”

At the party, the classmates had fun and it was an experience their mothers would happily share forever. They are planning to set a date for another bonding moment for the kids.
